***** IMPORTANT ***** SAVE AND PRINT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE ***** Dear Client, Your account has been set up on the following WindowsNT Server: Hostname: www.yourdomain.com (or www.yourdomain.org) Login ID: as per your contract Password: as per your contract Directory: /yourdomain (without the .com or .org) To FTP your files: ------------------ 1. Log into the hostname with your user ID and password 2. Change directories to your directory (the Microsoft WinNT server does not automatically place you in your home directory) 3. FTP as usual. Your Email: ----------- Every domain is configured with it's own email addresses, for example webmaster@yourdomainname.com There are four types of email: - 1. UNLIMITED FORWARD: all emails to your domain are forwarded to a single external email address like YourName@aol.com - 2. INDIVIDUAL FORWARD: Individual email aliases are forwarded individually, for example webmaster@youdomainname.com goes to jack1234@aol.com sales@yourdomainname.com goes to jill5678@compuserve.com etc. - 3. POP3: Each alias has their own private mailbox with it's own login ID and password and the email resides on OUR mailservers until you pick it up. POP3 has the following parameters: Alias : e.g. jane@yourdomainname.com webmaster@yourdomain.com Login ID : e.g. jane2 (2-8 characters) Password : e.g. ******** (SECRET! never send this by email!) 7 or 8 characters, cryptic, no names or words. INBOUND (POP3) MAILSERVER : mail.yourdomainname.com OUTBOUND (SMTP) MAILSERVER : your ISP's SMTP mailserver If using Eudora set POP3 account to your_login_id@mail.yourdomain.com and set "Reply to:" to your_email_address@yourdomain.com - 4. MIX OF ABOVE You can mix and match so you have some aliases forwarded, some aliases going to POP3 boxes, and a default (unlimited) forward for the rest. TO CONFIGURE OR CHANGE YOUR EMAIL, SEND AN EMAIL TO support@localweb.com NEVER send POP3 password information via email! Please fax passwords to 919-544-5345 for security. WEB STATISTICS -------------- The live stats for your website are available at the following URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/iisastats/iisastats.htm Online documentation and help is available with these stats. Please click on the green question mark. Please note that the stats may not be active immediately for new accounts. Stats for new accounts are initialized once a week on Sunday typically, so your stats may not be "live" until the Sunday after your account is set up. Sometimes this might be delayed by an additional few days. This delay is caused by some technical administrative requirements for the stats server (IISA by Media House) and is unfortunately beyond our control. REAL AUDIO/VIDEO LOGS --------------------- These are stored in the directory E:\WWW\realaudio\LOGS on the RA/RV server "real.localweb.com". These are combined logs for all domains, and you can use the grep utility to see your own logs. To get these logs via FTP: 1. FTP to real.localweb.com 2. cd /pnlogs PLATINUM PREMIUM ACCOUNTS ------------------------- You have an account on both UNIX and NT server. One is your main account where the www.yourdomain.com points to. The other is a "GOLD PRIME" account with FTP and telnet access. You can choose which is your primary when your account is set up. If your PRIMARY account is UNIX then: NT account is on nt4.localweb.com (hostname) User ID and Password are same as on UNIX. If your PRIMARY account is NT then: UNIX account is on www.localweb.com (hostname) User ID and Password are same as on NT. WHAT ARE ALL THESE FILES IN MY DIRECTORY? ----------------------------------------- When your account is set up, you will see these files in your directory. Save these files for later use, they contain handy examples of the most common features on the NT Server such as counters, form mail, Real Audio/Video, etc. test.htm - Main "TEST" file form1.htm - A simple test file for wSendmail formmail.htm - A more complex test file for wSendmail ra.htm - Real Audio/Video test file testra.htm - Real Audio testrv.htm - Real Video welcome.nt - Save this! DEFAULT FILES: -------------- The "default" file may be named any one of the following: index.htm, index.html, default.htm, default.asp, index.cfm. The web server will pick the first file it finds from this list (in that order) and display it as the default page for that directory. NOTE: This is true for any subdirectories too. Regards Mike. ASP GLOBAL PATH: ---------------- The true (full) path of user files is as follows: E:\WWW\users\yourdomain where "yourdomain" is the same as your domain name, with the ".COM" stripped off (or .ORG or .NET stripped off, as the case may be). If you have a default.asp, you MUST still have an "index.htm" file. In your "index.htm" file, place the following meta tag somewhere in the "head" of your index.htm, i.e. between the and : <meta http-equiv="refresh" Content="0; url=default.asp"> A lot of good information os ASP is available from this URL, including tutorials, etc: http://www.genusa.com/asp/ ===================================================================== ===================================================================== ===================================================================== ===================================================================== Other details: Machine: Pentium II/266 256M RAM Operating System: WinNT 4.0 with latest service packs applied WWW: MS Internet Information Server 4.0 Frontpage 98 (3.0) extensions ASP server ODBC Cold Fusion 3.1.1 (OPTIONAL) Please call or email to support@localweb.com if you have any questions or problems. Please let us know when you are done with the UNIX account so we can reallocate the IP address. If you need both a UNIX account and a NT account on a long term or permanent basis please let us (know more than 4 weeks). INTERNIC FEES (PLATINUM ACCOUNTS ONLY) -------------------------------------- The Internic charges for domain registration and maintenance. This fee is between the Internic and you. You will receive an invoice from the Internic. Please see the Internic URL: http://rs.internic.net/ for the latest information and requirements. We (localweb) will submit the initial registration forms to Internic on your behalf, but you are responsible for all Internic fees directly between you and the Internic. You can also make modifications yourself about your domain information (change of address/phone, new billing contact, etc. etc.), see the above URL for the "Web templates". You are responsible for the admin and billing information of your name, as well as for any trademark/copyright issues regarding your domain name. This Internic fee is separate from LocalWeb's fee for "domain setup". LocalWeb's fee is a one-time fee, Internic's fee is annual. ==================================== Please remember, this is "server-ready" space, i.e. you provide all the HTML and/or CGI. However, if you do have any questions, we will always be ready to help ... send us email, and we will respond, and even look at your HTML and/or CGI on a time-available basis (free of course, unless it is something horribly complicated :-). Again, welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy our service and the world of the Internet! Michael Salim President. salim@localweb.com
